I have been a passionate and spontaneous creator and student of all types of artistic expression ever since I showed a knack for it in kindergarten.
I was born in Cusco, Peru but grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Moving often, never really fitting in, never really having a motherland or even town to call my own. The “next” apartment became my home, my motherland.
I noticed recurring lonely archetypes throughout our many homes. I feel an urban isolation that connects me with people even if they are vastly different from me. I feel I can relate to a lonely housewife as well as the agoraphobic, housebound teenager of today, who communicates only through texts, sent from their phones and computers, most auto-written by a smart program.
I feel the great amount of communication tools as well as the availability of information and media is creating a hidden isolation that is making us more and more confused, more and more uninterested and numb. I want to explore this with film and art, the hidden mental sprawl of the modern isolated individual.
I explore these feelings through the fragmentation and expressions found in all my portraits and through very experimental and emotionally charged abstracts.
